Album Description

Birthed in 1989 out of a love for the Lord and a passion for winning the lost through reggae music, Christafari has released 10 albums, performed in 46 states, 50 countries, before 2 Olympic Games and even played for the President of the United States! It’s hard to believe that 20 years into their ministry these gospel reggae pioneers would have their best-year-ever with more shows, better sales and more souls coming to Christ than before!

In early 2009, this massive 10-piece ensemble took a break from their hectic touring schedule to create a landmark album that celebrates their 20 years in the ministry. Rather than resting on their laurels, they wrote a string of new hits, that when woven together create a musical tapestry that is sure to withstand the test of time.

The 15 anthems that grace this revolutionary project are a modern take on Christafari’s classic signature sound (all live instruments including wailing guitars, rich harmonies and a brazen horn section). The vast majority of the songs are roots and culture with elements of dancehall, hip-hop, soca and touches of rock. One thing that sets this album apart from the rest is the sheer number of guest appearances (over 30 artists) including some of the top names in gospel reggae, hip hop and worship. Everyone wants to be a part of this musical milestone!

MINISTRY STATEMENT: At the end of every Christafari show, bandleader and Pastor Mark Mohr gives an invitation. Thousands come to know the Lord through this powerful ministry each year. Inspired by gospel music pioneer Keith Green, this album has an even stronger evangelical tilt than previous offerings with songs like “Whosoever,” and “Try Jah Love.” The project also has a strong anti-drug message with tracks like “Most High” and “Pure Meditations.” “Gwaan Natty” reveals Christafari’s passion for reaching Rastafarians, while “The Protesters” unites all gospel reggae artists against abortion in an effort to stop the “Silent Holocaust”. More intimate songs like “Taking in the Son” and “Messiah” lead the listener into a time of worship.

Lyrics

BOOMSHOTS (feat. Dominic Balli) Lyrics:
This is Christafari, Dominic Balli—Boomshots! Ya just give it what you got / I said no compromise / Ooh yeah / Yo, I take my chances / This chance I’ll take / To make and impact, we saturate and don’t back down/ We won’t back down / Can’t hesitate now we must embark / Move the mountains / Ignite the spark / And don’t back down / We won’t back down. Chat Chorus: Boomshot / Hit it while it’s hot / Give it what ya got / Give it your best shot / Them say “Hold on. You’re coming too strong, you better ease off or you won’t last too long” / But man I’m coming as a warrior We trample snake and scorpions / We riding like a champion / We mash up the system yeah / Chorus: No surrender / We’re getting stronger / We are the warriors for the Messiah / No, no compromise / No longer will we listen to the enemies lies and / No, no compromise / We’re never giving up ‘cause we’re fighting the fight yeah / No, no compromise No longer will we listen to the enemies lies and / No, no compromise / We’re never gonna stop no matter what the sacrifice.
No Compromise / I said no compromise / You’re hot and your cold / Bought and your sold / Put down that pride, (and) abide (in) the truth told / Day and you’re night / Dark and you’re light / Lift up your voice and fight the good fight / When the fires raging / The flame is hot / Refuse to worship—killed on the spot / But don’t back down / We won’t back down / And in the den of lions we test our faith/ Don’t matter the outcome we stand to say / We don’t bow down We won’t back down / (CHAT CHORUS) / Wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove / Jah know say me war / But me war inna love now / (CHORUS) / Woy yo, Woy yo (Repeat).

WHOSOEVER (feat. Rogé Abergel, RedCloud & Jenkins) Lyrics:
From Genesis to Revelation / He’s given us an invitation / Every creed, every nation / To the whole of Creation / So if you get a inspiration / Perhaps a little motivation / Every tribe every tongue–Whosoever may come. Pre-Chorus: It’s not His will that anyone should perish / It’s not His will that anyone should pay / Or ever face the fire / Inna (on the) judgment day. Chorus: Whosoever, (whosoever) / Whosoever, (whosoever may come) / You never met no One like this before / A whosoever, (whosoever) / Whosoever, (whosoever may come) / (I) tell you this, you’ve never been no place like this before / Wa, ya wa ya ya… (Repeat) Whosoever come and a me say whosoever call / Whosoever kneel and a me say whosoever fall / Whosoever bow before the Lord of all them surely will be saved / Surely they will be saved. So no more hesitation / No more procrastination / For He has offered salvation / To the whole of creation / Emancipation proclamation / (He’ll) forgive your sins and Him give you freedom / On the cross it was done / Whosoever may come / (PRE-CHORUS) / (CHORUS) / Wa, ya wa ya ya… / Whosoever come (come) / Whosoever call (call) / Whosoever kneel (kneel) / Whosoever fall (fall) / Whosoever answer to the Master’s call them surely will be saved / Surely they will be saved. Chat-Chorus: Whosoever come / Whosoever call / Whosoever kneel to the Lord of all / Whosoever bow / Whosoever fall / Whosoever heed to the Master’s call.
Jenkins: Even the disregarded, since forgotten, criminals and vagabonds / And remember that anybody, everybody shall live if abide / With the many of bandits and abandoned-good for nothin / He’s taken the fallen and the departed and made the apple of His eye / He been intending that nobody perish and follow on down that nightmare / His plan has been unraveling ever since Adam and all have been beckoned some reply / Give all glory and honor and dump on Him all of your praises / and let us be busy and run- ning a bout / Let it out, with a shout, send ’em out and until that day!
RedCloud: Yeshua tells a story of the Kingdom of Yahweh/ It’s like a king who threw a wedding banquet for his son one day / Sent out servant after servant / To call invited guests Yet none of them arrived / His wedding party was a mess / Sent another round of servants instructed to tell them please / So much food is on the table / Come partake in the feast / They only shrugged their shoulders and took off and shook the spot / One went off to weed his garden the other worked in his shop / My servants, my people look at this splendid array / But there’s no guests the one’s invited aren’t up for it they say / Go out to the busiest intersections in town / And invite anyone you find just standing around /
(CHAT CHORUS) / The servants went out to the streets and rounded and gathered / Everyone that they laid eyes on—bad or good didn’t matter So in walked the King and now you know why I say this / That many get invited, but so few can make it. Jenkins: Whosoever, whosoever even fellas on the side / Live forever, live forever–invitation bonafide yeah / You’ve seen that enemy / You’ve heard his lullaby / So sing the remedy, and fall in for the time is nigh. So few can make it / Many get invited, but so few can make it / Whosoever, whosoever / So few can make it / Many get invited, but so few can make it!
